DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) Cricket was started by BCCI in the year 2008, with complete backing from the ICC. The Twenty20 league has a total of eight teams, with players being purchased at the auctions by the team owners. The names of IPL Twenty20 Teams are Bangalore Royal Challengers, Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals.

Bangalore Royal Challengers
Royal Challengers Bangalore, also known as RCB, is the team that represents the "IT City of India" - Bangalore, in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is owned by none other than the liquor magnate and the owner of Kingfisher Airlines, Vijay Mallya, through his flagship firm UB Group $111.6 million.

Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI Punjab, the team of Mohali, went for $76 million, to Bollywood actress Preity Zinta and her industrialist beau Ness Wadia. Along with them, industrialists Karan Paul and Mohit Burman are its owners. India's Yuvraj Singh was 'icon player' of KXIP.

Chennai Super Kings
Bought by India Cements (N Srinivasan), for $91 million, Chennai Super Kings has Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of Team India, as its captain and Stephen Fleming, ex-captain of Kiwis cricket team, as the coach.

Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders, owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and Juhi's husband Jay Mehta, was auctioned off for $75.09 million. It has India's 'icon player' Sourav Ganguly as the captain. Now Gautam Gambhir captain of KKR and and Trevor Baylis as the coach.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team of Hyderabad, was auctioned off for $107, to Deccan Chronicle (a media house). Shikhar Dhawan, Indian opener, is its captain, with Tom Moody as the coach.

Mumbai Indians
Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Limited owns Mumbai Indians, which was auctioned off for $111.9 million. India's 'icon player' was Sachin Tendulkar, while former Indian coach John Wrights the head coach.

Delhi Daredevils
Delhi Daredevils, the team of the capital city - Delhi, was auctioned off for $84 million, to GMR Holdings. Indian stylish opening Virendra Sehwag was 'icon player' and Australia's Greg Shipperd are coach of the team.

Rajasthan Royals
Emerging Media, a UK-based company, bought Rajasthan Royals (the Jaipur team) for $67 million. Rajasthan Royals won the inauguration tournament under legend Shane Warne.
